tellows is an open forum for phone numbers, based on the comments and experiences of all tellows users, giving you access to more information than a regular telephone directory. Currently, the tellows consumer protection services on www.tellows.com are being used by more than 100000 million visitors per month throughout all of the US, sharing their experience regarding unknown or dubious phone numbers.

Search and comment on anonymous telephone numbers:

If you received a phone call from an unknown number on your iPhone, you can look it up directly after hanging up by copying it from your call list. Just copy the number from the details list (after pressing on the number for a couple of seconds) and paste it on the search field of the Tellows app.

You will now be directed to the phone number´s detailed information, including place of origin, owner, reason for the call and comments from other users. If no helpful information were available, feel free to leave a comment with whatever information you have and help others who might eventually come across the same caller. This is the way our database is fed on a daily basis: it is our users who provide valuable information for the whole community.

Real-time identification of suspicious calls:

After you imported the most notorious spam and scam phone numbers you can easily recognize unsolicited telemarketers, subscription scams and annoying surveys on the first ring with the full version of the tellows app. Thanks to the tellows users rating, every phone number gets its own tellows score showing whether a phone number is reliable or not. For this purpose, the app creates 3 new entries in your contact list which will contain all dubious phone numbers with a tellows score of 7, 8 and 9. Once you receive a call from such a number, the phone numbers tellows score will be displayed on your phone to warn you of the incoming threat.

Is there information to all phone numbers available?

Since tellows is no official telephone directory, and since it is not our aim to provide data about private numbers, we are unable to provide information regarding all existing phone numbers. Our goal is rather to provide useful information about general unknown or suspicious numbers of public interest. The data brought to you is based on the complete and undelayed information provided by the rest of our community. The more you share your experiences with others –be it through the website or through the App -- the more efficient our service will be.
